A 1944 Nebbiolo × Syrah cross from the Pleven institute — Bulgarian-bred, not indigenous. Deep colour, black fruit, black pepper and a savoury edge; more structured than most Bulgarian crossings. Frequently blended with Mavrud, and one of the easier Bulgarian reds to find abroad.
