Pink-skinned and one of the most widely planted Greek varieties, at its best in the high-altitude vineyards of Aigialia in Achaia. Quality is entirely yield-dependent: overcropped it is neutral filler and retsina base, but from old high vineyards it gives crisp melon, citrus and a stony edge.
