Khndoghni (Sireni)
Armenia · Red · Limited (B)
Historically the signature red of the Karabakh region, and much darker and more structured than Areni — high tannin, black fruit and an earthy, savoury weight. Areni tends to fresh acidity and soft tannins while Khndoghni is higher in tannin with dark fruit and earth. Production has been disrupted by events in the region since 2020 and 2023, and plantings within Armenia proper have taken on more of the load. Available, but supply is uncertain and worth checking vintage by vintage.
