Genetically identical to Primitivo, Zinfandel and Crljenak Kaštelanski. Rounder, riper and more approachable than Vranac, with jammy red and black fruit. The historical Montenegrin claim on this variety is strong and it is now bottled varietally by Plantaže and by smaller producers.
