Limnio
Greece · Red · Available (A–B)
From Limnos, now mostly grown in Halkidiki. Very possibly the Limnia referred to by Hesiod and Aristotle, which would make it one of the oldest continuously cultivated varieties anywhere. Medium colour, low acidity, moderate tannin, with a distinctive bay leaf and herbal character. Often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Limnio-based blends are widely exported.
