A Serbian breeding-programme cross of Cabernet Sauvignon with a local red — sources describe it as a cross of Kadarka and Cabernet Sauvignon, retaining Kadarka’s sour cherry and raspberry with added tannin for ageing, though it is elsewhere given as Prokupac × Cabernet Sauvignon. Either way it is a 20th-century creation, not an old vine. Modest but real production.
